Today on Twitter I came across a video of Randy Fine, a Jewish Florida State Rep, in which he says “We are a people that has been kicked out of every place we’ve ever lived for 2000 years. Every. Single. Place”.

You probably have heard similar things. But this is not true at all. This is an Ashkenazi version of Jewish history (inaccurate in itself, but never mind that now).

My mother’s family comes from Morocco. Jews were never kicked out of there. My father’s family is from Palestine, and they were never kicked out of there as well.

The point of view Randy Fine expresses is the usual Ashkenazi way of telling Jewish history, namely the total erasure of the histories of Arab Jews. This is a big subject, and quite emotional for me, and I’m going to write more about it.
