Reflections on The Chosen – A Beautiful Portrayal of Christ’s Love
As someone who deeply appreciates the Scriptures and how they inspire us to draw closer to God, I find The Chosen to be an extraordinary gift. Directed by Dallas Jenkins and starring Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, the show has truly captured my heart. It's not just another adaptation of the Bible; it's a beautifully crafted experience that weaves Scripture with plausible backstories to connect key moments in a way that feels both real and meaningful.
The show isn’t intended to be a strict, line-by-line representation of Scripture, and that’s what makes it so special. It brings the words to life, drawing on the emotions and nuances of each character in a way that helps you see the stories through their eyes. The actors, coming from diverse faith backgrounds, do an exceptional job of portraying their roles. It’s not just about performance—it’s about making the Bible feel alive, personal, and deeply moving. And when combined with the dramatic music, it becomes an experience that stirs your heart, lifts your spirit, and draws you closer to God.
One of my favorite aspects of the show is how it slows down the pace of Scripture, inviting us to step into the shoes of the disciples and imagine what it would have been like to walk alongside Jesus. It doesn’t just tell us the stories; it lets us feel them. For me, it portrays Jesus in a way that feels both familiar and intimate, showing a love that’s not just historical but personal—one that feels like he loves me as he did his disciples.
With the first four seasons already available on many streaming platforms, including thechosen.tv, The Chosen is a beautiful way to immerse yourself in the love of Christ. Season 5, focusing on Holy Week, will be in theatres this April, and I can’t wait to experience it. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to dive into this magnificent show and allow it to deepen your connection to Christ’s love.
