Make money doing the work you believe in
Not that anyone has the bandwidth to take on anymore bad news, and not that the people in our lives are going to finally wake up when we tell them this and take some of the weight off our shoulders, but it should be understood that they’re eliminating everything that protects life.
1) They are auto-sunsetting massive amounts of regulations related to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, Land management, Ocean management, Bald and Golden Eagle Act, and on and on and on.
All due to a single Executive Order “Zero-Based Regulatory Budgeting to Unleash American Energy” issued a year ago April.
They have inverted the entire way regulations exist. Rather than existing until they are deleted. They delete after a year unless explicitly retained.
They applied to this to the Dept of Energy, Dept of Interior, BLM, BOEM, BSEE, EPA, ACE, NRC.
In January next year whatever they don’t explicitly save, ends.
2) HUMAN LIVES NO LONGER COUNTED
In addition, they made a heart-wrenching change earlier this year in January where they no longer count the benefit of lives saved when they look at air quality regulations.
There are only two sides to the equation.
Benefits to people’s lives saved by applying a clean air standard
vs.
Cost to Corporations to abide by clean air standard.
They took away the ones about humans. There’s not an equation anymore.
3) THEY ARE CHANGING THE DEFINITION OF HARM
A dangerous precedent is being set with an amendment to the Endangered Species Act they proposed last year and some of us commented on. “Harm” no longer includes indirect harm, only direct intentional harm, meaning if you bulldoze a fox habitat and food source and it dies, it doesn’t count as harm because you didn’t directly shoot it or intend for it to die.
Imagine this being expanded to the definition of harm of people. Cut off their power source or water source. Well, you didn’t nuke them or try to kill them on purpose, so “oops”. It’s OK to do that.
The US already commits social murder every time it guts healthcare like it did with OBBBA last year. But if they extend this reasoning to policies impacting humans, it will expand the ways in which the US government can kill by neglect without accountability.
Remember, these are our tax dollars they are using to kill us.
