Thanks Jami Attenberg for this post! As s writer who sometimes delves into her own personal (and not so pretty) experiences, I do grapple with how much do I want to share? Will I regret this?

Also agree whole heartedly with this:

Not all writing has to be consumed. Not all writing has to be for the rest of the world. Also, not all writing is a great idea or even a good idea. We write it down, we get it out of our system, and we make room for the next idea which might be the best one we’ve ever had.

I started writing every day a few years ago (1000 Words has helped me a bunch) and can honestly say everything I wrote the first year or two was garbage. But I had to write garbage for a year or two to write novels, stories, and essays I really love! Wrote a bit about this here: amandanyren.substack.co…
