My February essay hit a nerve with many of the Frenchies in my life who reached out to commiserate, share and to give me some TLC after what has been a professionally gruelling two months in France.
And funnily enough, a Frenchie with whom I work (and with whom I am having some challenges around communication) read this essay this weekend. In our weekly catch up today, she noted this concept of friction, of the dichotomy between the English and French in how we work, noting that she often hated the French for the behaviours that seemed so embedded in the culture here.
I am not entirely sure what my point is, other than it makes me very happy to ever feel that what I write resonates with people. And in this particular case, has helped bridge a gap in cultural understanding.
