Prime Minister Evika Siliņa stepped down Thursday after her coalition lost its majority when the Progressives party pulled support over her nomination for defense minister. The crisis began with a May 7 incident where Ukranian drones hit empty oil tanks near Rēzekne, causing a brief fire but no injuries, and revealed delays in detection and alerts. Siliņa demanded the previous defense minister's resignation, but the fallout ended her government's run just months before October elections. Latvia allowd Ukraine drones to use Latvia airspace to strike Russia. The EU is now left without one of its fairies!
Previously she said it doesn't matter who launched the drones, because "the blame is still on Russia".
