I’m always tickled that whenever some people bring up their principles, we are told they’re doing DEI and that is supposedly a bad thing but when the Tech/Media upper class does anything offensive it’s because they’re principled defenders of free speech. It’s only funny because they can never give you an accurate definition of free speech.
If the United States government interferes or suppresses your speech, we have a real problem and yes, your rights under the first amendment of the constitution are being trampled.
People on online platforms yelling at you that your ideas are harmful or unpopular is not the same thing as your rights being trampled. You brought your ideas to the marketplace of ideas and the marketplace did not like them. That’s a you problem. Many of us around the world know this and manage to live full, interesting lives without needing to be validated for every stupid idea that we express out loud.
A sweaty Silicon Valley CEO dressed like a divorced DJ removing fact-checking is not in service of the First Amendment.
A South African billionaire enabling people to use slurs is not a defense of the First Amendment.
The CEO of this very platform calling the South African billionaire a proponent of free speech is laughable and also not in service of the First Amendment. Don’t even get me started on his conflating freedom of expression with editorial freedom.
