2025 is here—a new year, a new Harshad number. Its digits add up to 9, and it's divisible by 9. In Sanskrit, Harshad means 'giver of joy,' so does that mean 2025 is mathematically obligated to make us happy?

It's the kind of year where math says 'joyful,' but the world rolls its eyes and says, 'You can't spell "joy" without "oy."'

And let's not forget, 2024 was also a Harshad number—proof that joy doesn't come with a money-back guarantee. After all, it gave us Trump. But who knows? Maybe 2025 will surprise us, bring some real joy, and leave the oy stranded in last year's baggage claim.
