Throwback to a year ago today where we found the remains of New Cross. While a cross would once have sat in this space, today only the socket remains.

This barren moor was once an essential crossing place for travellers. Danger lurked in various forms on the paths: inclement weather, thieves, or just getting lost could prove fatal.

Not only did these series of crosses reassure travellers they were headed in the right direction, they offered a reminder that God was with them, even in unforgiving, remote places.
