Turkey tail mushrooms are so cool. But climate change sucks. The dry air has caused massive die off of red alders. Too bad, as they are a major host to butterflies and moths in our area. The wood is also preferable for inoculating shiitakes. I’ll be trying to plant more after losing roughly 20 of them over the last few years. But at least the turkey tails that have moved in to colonize the dying alders are stunningly beautiful.
