Even with an agent, I couldn’t find a publisher for my first memoir, Girl To City. Rejected by academic presses too, I ended up publishing it myself. So it’s pretty sweet to have the book cited in the lead paragraph of a piece in today’s New York Times, where the guest essayist goes on to say “Rigby’s memoir — a lucid, unguarded account of band life — is one of the best I’ve read.
