Make money doing the work you believe in

The best thing I’ve done this week was attending the second edition of Where Are the Women Restaurateurs? organised by Panayiota Soutis.

A few quotes that stuck with me below.

“Writing and cooking are two forms of cultural transmission. Explaining things, not just writing recipes without context, because context is really important.” — Boutheina Ben Salem (Oula Café)

“The most joyful thing of all is meeting people who are better than you could ever have imagined at a thing that you dreamed of, and they take it much further than you ever could.” — Cynthia Shanmugalingam (Rambutan)

“We have focused on the neighbourhood part, and it's not about chasing virality… Now I know that there's a woman that loves the meringue and doesn't like rhubarb... which is annoying during all of rhubarb season! I'm just like, 'Babe, this is it. This is all we got.'“ — Anna Higham (Quince Bakery)
