Main stream media narratives often seem to be either nonsensical or completely incoherent.
They seem this way because we assume that the media is a mechanism for signaling information to the people. In such a framework, news outlets talking about the virtues of capitalism or state sovereignty come across as tone deaf and ignorant of what normal people experience in the real world.
But if we view legacy media as platforms signaling information predominantly from the ruling class to the ruling class, then it all makes sense. They signal to each other who their enemies are, where threats to their power exist, and how they can align their strategies for maintaining their dominance.
