Humans can’t shoot lasers out of our eyes, but if we did, we’d be much safer drivers. Our cars can. Why shouldn’t we aspire to the level of safety that sensor fusion offers? Progress in this field, understood properly, should constitute living up to driving automation’s capability, not living down to human weakness.
