Ouch. Yesterday, after publishing a newsletter (Subject: "How’s Everybody Doing?"), I lost 60 subscribers. Has anyone else experienced a drop like this? It’s a first for me.

My post was about politics, but it was really about my feelings regarding the election. From a numbers perspective, the main takeaway is to avoid writing anything that might turn people off. Ideally, we want to be honest with our readers and connect with them. That motivates me, and I know many of you can relate.

Expressing my feelings in my writing is the whole point, and engaging with people is another crucial goal. I understand that I’m not for everyone. But given the polarized politics in the U.S., I wonder if something else is at play.

I’ll be thinking about this for a while. Are we unable to even empathetically listen to opposing viewpoints? If so, we’re in for a troubling future.
