US appeals court reinstates sanctions on Francesca Albanese
Infuriating news from the US, as a three-judge panel in the D.C. Circuit, the appeals court in Washington, D.C., has issued an “administrative stay” on a ruling lifting the outrageous sanctions imposed on UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, delivered on May 13 by Judge Richard Leon.
Judge Leon had correctly recognized that the sanctions were an unacceptable suppression of her First Amendment rights, and an unacceptable punishment of her and her husband, as property owners who work in the US, and her daughter, who is a US citizen.
The D.C. Circuit has scheduled key filings for May 28 and June 2.
