Read Al McWhiggin’s exclusive interview here. Yes, he is the guy in the chicken Suit in Toy Story 2.
Al McWhiggin:
@Animated: Al, you’ve been called many things, such as a collector, a villain, and a chicken man. How do you see yourself?
Al: Misunderstood genius, mostly. People think I stole Woody. I prefer the term ‘rescued him from destructive play patterns.’ You wouldn’t leave a Rembrandt in a sandpit, would you?
@Animated: Some say you put profit before nostalgia.
Al: Look, nostalgia’s great until it smudges the paint. Kids drool, chew, and draw on things. I preserve history. For a fee, obviously.
@Animated: Do you ever feel guilty?
Al: Guilt’s for amateurs. I gave those toys a shot at immortality. Not everyone gets a glass case in Tokyo.
@Animated: What would you say to Woody now?
Al: (pauses) …Probably ‘sorry.’ But not out loud. I’ve got a reputation to uphold.
@Animated: Do you still collect?
Al: Let’s just say my eBay alerts are on. You never know when another cowboy might ride my way.
@Animated: Thanks so much for joining us today and telling us your side of the story.
