Six months ago, my book deal fell through.

I had no idea what I was going to do next.

Then, one day, I saw

‘s post about authors publishing their books serially on Substack.

I knew instantly it was the right move for me.

So, I decided to release the first chapter of my book, Lonely Girl, on my 30th birthday, directly on Substack.

To market my book, I posted 1-3x a day on Instagram and TikTok.

Here’s what happened:

• I gained over 10k followers combined

• Became a Substack bestseller with almost 200 paid readers

• LG is now earning $10,000 in annual revenue

When my book deal fell through, I was really discouraged.

But now, with just the first chapter out, I am on track to earn so much more than I would have had I decided to go with a small, traditional publisher.

It’s not just about the money; it’s about the freedom, too.
