How do we feel about people subscribing to read a post behind a paywall and then immediately unsubscribing so that they don’t have to pay the writer who produced it? I noticed this has happened a lot today with this post and it doesn’t seem to me to be in ‘the spirit’ of substack — especially when it’s other writers who are doing this. I’ve now removed my seven day free trial which seems a shame for those who genuinely want to support writers, but what choice do we have when people are playing the system so they don’t have to pay for out words?
