I CAN'T BELIEVE I EVEN NEED TELL YOU THIS ABOUT SOCIAL SECURITY, BUT I GUESS THAT I DO

There has been a lot of chatter online about how “the states should stop sending money to the Federal government, that’ll show them”.

Not only is there really not a viable legal path to do that, I pointed out, but if a state did that, the feds could retaliate with a “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander” action, and stop sending social security benefits to the people in that state.

I was shocked - SHOCKED I tell you - when more than one person responded saying “The federal government can’t do that - that’s our money that we paid in.”

Even now, I need to take a minute because I’m at such a loss for words at this UTTER LACK OF UNDERSTANDING of how our social security system works.
