Definitely tricky with different rules for different countries. Here is a link for Australia: ag.gov.au/rights-and-pr… with a table at ag.gov.au/sites/default… For photos the magic date is it is in the public domain if made before 1 Jan 1955. The National Library of Australia focuses on digitising newspapers published before 1955 on the general understanding that they are out of copyright so reuse from Trove should be OK. trove.nla.gov.au/help/u…
