I have been writing an essay for some weeks on whether I’m quiet-quitting Substack, or if Substack is quiet-quitting me.
I was losing more paid subscribers than I was gaining and it was feeling a bit demoralising.
Without needing to publish it, it seems the algorithm caught wind of it - spiritually, you might say - and my stats are on the up.
I’m welcoming more new paid subscribers than I have in some time, and also less people are leaving, which is surprising, in December.
So, if you find yourself quiet-quitting Substack - reducing output, telling yourself you don’t really care anyway - know this:
Just thinking these thoughts will alert the Substack Gods to your strife and they will give you a little boost, in response.
Or, perhaps, you move into a ‘surrender’ phase, detach from the stats, write from a place of heart and readers like the shift.
Magic, or surrender and soul-writing?
