You need this book. Actually you need to buy 10 copies and give the other nine away.

The idea is clever. But the execution exceeds all expectations. As an adult, I don't know that I've ever read anything new that made me get goosebumps like the old sagas and fairy tales did as a kid--let alone something that tied together those fairy tales with the biblical metanarrative in a way that made me see all of them more richly. There were tears aplenty in my family as we read these aloud together. I could see my kids' imaginations soaring in their shining eyes. And Christina and I just sat in spellbound silence at the end of each one, knowing better than the kids what had just hit us.
