I asked my local AI discussion group what questions they had about the coming AI transition.

Every single answer was some version of: What happens to me?

Will I be able to retire? Will Social Security still exist? What jobs are safe? How do I get health insurance if I lose my job?

These are exactly the right questions. And the honest answer is: it depends entirely on which scenario plays out.

I’m writing a series exploring each scenario. The first one — the economically catastrophic one — is now up. It’s not comfortable reading. But it’s worth thinking through before you need to.
