Make money doing the work you believe in

The whole 501(c)(3) universe is very, very strange. I'm fairly confident that the Brimelows aren't living off the fat of the land, but lots of these organizations just seem like blatant money laundering. Alternatively, we've got A LOT of rich people in this country who can't spend money fast enough. I wish they'd just toss a few bucks to me to pay off my mortgage.

On a whim, I looked up GMU economist Tyler Cowen's Mercatus Institute. Here's its 2024 Form 990.

projects.propublica.org…

They hoovered up $37.2M in 2023, $45.5M the year before.

Tyler Cowen (whom I'd characterize as an anti-Steve) made $133,00 for 1 hour a week. Ten people are making salaries up to the mid six figures off Mercatus Institute for, something.

As we call it down here, that's real money.
