One thing that’s unfortunate about AI encroaching into writing is that exploring different styles of writing feels harder to do. It seems more valuable to aim for distinctiveness and weirdness just to out run the median-style that keeps updating itself. Example - If brevity used to be a prized outcome of editing skill, that now seems less likely to be valuable, because it’s inherently less distinctive if it’s surgically precise. At the same time, flowery bloat isn’t aspirational or kind to any reader. And forcefully injecting personal details as a human stamp is exhausting. I suspect this is going to be a big challenge of the times.
