A friend of mine locked his key in his car, so he had to hire a locksmith. The guy who showed up had the thickest Russian accent you could possibly imagine - we got to talking, he noticed my friend’s Army bumper sticker and shared that he did three years with the IDF. Why? To get israeli citizenship, which he then used to migrate to the US, no questions asked, just last year. He also claimed to be a scout sniper, which I doubt, but he WAS built like a tank so that tracks at least.
He also said he trained with the Marines under Intrepid Mavin (25.1 and 25.2), which I believe Hexen also did (his last exercise before ETSing iirc), so there is a genuine chance they rubbed shoulders.
Anyways, I can’t verify any of the shit he was saying beyond googling the terms he used and noting that everything he said he did does exist. However, I could equally bullshit by throwing around trainings I’ve heard about but never attended. But enough of his story tracks so I’ll believe it.
If he was a scout sniper, it’s kind of crazy that he just… left. Maybe it’s different in Israel, but I can’t imagine higher letting someone in SOF go like that. Usually people who go through selection are in for the next 10-12 years because of the sheer training investment. Maybe there was more to his story than he was letting on. I can imagine him being ex-Wagner and being approached by the IDF to end off his military career helping train their SOF.
It’s a small world man.
