Chateau de Chenonceau

In the 16th century this French Renaissance chateau was gifted to Diane de Poitiers (Henry II’s mistress).

Years later it was acquired by his widow Catherine de’ Medici.

Known as the Chateau des Dames due to the significant roles these women among others had in the construction and preservation of the property.
