Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe famously proclaimed, “less is more.” Designer Dieter Rams implored, “less, but better.” Author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry concluded that “perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.”
Note to self: get with the Substack program, Boyd. Your essays are too damn long. Write less, but better. Get cutting.
