Okay new challenge for Valentine’s Day!

What dos your valentine mean to you?

We didn’t fall gently.

We collided — all sharp edges and stubborn pride — and somewhere in the friction, something caught fire.

Loving him feels like choosing the same person over and over again, even when we’re being dramatic, even when we’re arguing about something so small it should dissolve in minutes. It’s the way tension never lasts long in our house. The way anger melts into laughter. The way we always find ourselves back on the sofa, wrapped around each other like it was inevitable.

It’s the mischievous half-smile he tries to hide. The one that says he knows exactly what he’s doing. The beauty spot on the side of his nose that I’ve memorised without meaning to. The way he looks at me like I’m both chaos and something sacred.

Love, for me, is feeling protected without being caged. It’s knowing someone would burn the world down for you — but instead, they choose to sit beside you quietly when your world feels heavy. It’s softness and spice. It’s arguing loudly and loving harder. It’s being able to be small, dramatic, unreasonable — and still completely safe.

My cat, who trusts no one, curled into him like she recognised something before I did.

And that’s what it feels like.

Like recognition.

Like growing around each other without breaking. Like roots twisting in the same direction. Like seven years that feel both impossible and obvious.

Love is terrifying only because I know what it would mean to lose it.

But if I ever did, it would still have been the greatest honour — to love this deeply, and be loved back just as fiercely.

Happy Valentine’s Day 🤍
