Strong disagree! The Communists murdered laborers who protested for better working conditions! The Nazis banned research into race-and-IQ (because it kept finding Jews were very smart)! If these regimes had had been more consistent - if they’d forced themselves to reckon with why it was so hard for them to follow their own principles - that could have been a thread to help lead them out of their evil ideologies.
