Since back in 2nd edition day, we’ve been saying that GW bases its retail price on points and the points are meant to drive retail. It’s not an accident that one of the consistently best performing armies in tournament play (Knights) are also the most expensive.

It really was true back then, but to a much lesser extent than today. We used to dream about a couple of AdMech squads equipped with Graviton Guns; what we got is very different.

It may be that, under how the game currently exists, you should not have AdMech or SoB armies, and that they should only be available as allied detachments.

Recycling destroyed units to represent horde armies in lieu of a ridiculous amount of miniatures is a timeless solution to this problem and would work as well for Zulus at Rourke’s Drift or the ChiComs in Korea.

One of GW's biggest issues with balancing is that they use points drops as a way to balance armies that desperately need a stat boost instead.
