I have tried to take St. Paul very seriously where he says, “God loves a cheerful giver.” Over the years, I have been blessed with enough financial security to cultivate that peace… mostly. The nagging exception is when I help someone only to have that person decide that I am not the right sort of person and proceed to treat me with contempt and heap on calumnies so they fit in with those they have decided are more respectable. Thank heaven that I have not fallen so far beneath their contempt that they are willing to turn down my money, though!
