Make money doing the work you believe in

I think I did a blog about this once for The Naturist Community.

In the case of autism, it is a common issue that a child might remove their clothing at any old time. Has to do with the overstimulation of the child by the unpleasant feeling of clothing. Autistic children do not absorb all the subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle social rules everyone else around them picks up on instinctively. One of them is the need to remain covered, no matter how uncomfortable.

Some parents laugh this off, while others vaporlock and freak out. “How do I get my child to stop getting naked?” is a fairly common question on boards for parents of autistic children.

I am mildly autistic myself. As a child, I never saw the need for clothing. OTOH, I found out very early about the severe consequences for random nudity. So I grew up in a closet from my earliest memories, getting naked at every opportunity to be alone.

Being autistic caused me to miss out on a LOT of things, mainly social skills. It isn’t pretty. You’re the omega kid, a favorite target of every bully, and the butt of every joke. It was much worse back in the 60s. Today, schools have to look for autistic children and give them extra support.
