Jesus Wasn’t Apolitical

Jesus flipped tables.

Jesus confronted power.

Jesus called out hypocrisy — especially religious hypocrisy.

He did not say, “Blessed are the comfortable.” He said, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” He said, “Whatever you did for the least of these, you did for me.”

When women say, “I don’t engage in politics because of my faith,” what I often hear is:

“I don’t want to disrupt my comfort.”

And I get it. I really do.

It is easier to pack Valentines and ignore detention centers. It is easier to post Bible verses than to examine policy. It is easier to believe that someone else will fix it.

But ease is not righteousness.
