The app for independent voices

If we truly want to stand up to the world around us. We start by making Christ our top priority. One of the ways is to attend Mass and making sure all who desire to take part are able to.

absolutely this — my son also pulls his socks all the way up to his knees like he’s about get on the train to boarding school, just like the boys in the illustrations 😅

I grossly underestimated the effect that reading the Chronicles of Narnia to my daughter would have on her vocabulary. (She also listens to the audiobooks every night as she goes to sleep.) Because now I have a four year old saying things like:

"I couldn't possibly get up."

"I suppose you could do that."

"This is awfully squished."

Motherhood is hard. Sometimes excruciatingly so. But that’s not a bad thing.

This is also an argument for not writing down to a child’s level. There needs to be some balance, though. Don’toverly frustrate a child learning to read!

What suggestions do you have for bringing young readers up without making your prose too hard for the independent reader?

The Mediterranean Diet - Past and Present.

I love sweets! The last let’s say four years I have figured out they are killing me. At the beginning of figuring this out, off and on I would get a sharing size bag of peanut M&M’s and in my truck I would eat them when driving. They really taste great. My knees and left hip began to have massive pain, but at the beginning I didn’t get it. My hip got so bad in pain I would leave my leg hanging out of my pick up truck and all at once I would pick it up in dyer pain yell and put my leg in the tru…

Happy Belated Birthday, James. Here is an interesting story: A woman in our local post office had a knee replacement about 2-yrs. ago. Whenever I happened to be in the post office, I would ask her how she was feeling & doing. Each & every time, she said she was still in a lot of pain & had a lot of swelling, in spite of many follow-up appointments & physical therapy. Most of the time I did not even need to ask her as her pain was written all over her face. Not that long ago, when I was in the p…

I don't think just a little will hurt you. I have a friend who adores sweets but recently discovered he is pre-diabetic. He found a product called "Choc Zero" that offers a variety of sweets and no sugar!

There is a problem with “just a little “. It never stops with a little. The bag of chips…. The chocolate 🍫 bar…. Popcorn…. It always calls to you like cocaine and you’re never done till it’s utterly gone. For me, abstinence is the holy grail.
