Substack has a footnotes problem.

In mobile browser, the footnote is a popup. Clever and fancy! The problem is that most of the time half of the footnote is off the screen, making it unreadable.

The app, as always, is even worse. The footnote is just dead text; if you want to read it, you need to scroll to the bottom, and scroll back up. Annoying.

Why not just make footnotes into ordinary hyperlinks that take you to the bottom of the article, and back up again? No need to be clever or fancy.
