U.S. grid operator PJM Interconnection has informed $CEG that its former Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania (now renamed Crane Clean Energy Center) may not be formally connected to the grid until 2031, a four-year delay from the original plan.
David Dardis, $CEG's Chief External Affairs and Growth Officer, stated at the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston that, based on PJM's initial feedback on the plant's restart and grid connection plan, completing some necessary transmission facility upgrades would not be until 2031.
David Dardis noted that $CEG is currently consulting with transmission system owners to try and shorten the timeline, emphasizing that the company will maintain its original goal of being ready to start generating power by an earlier deadline.
The restart plan aims to provide stable power to $MSFT's data centers.
