I think that, if you dig down past all the executive orders and general destruction, what you'll find are two men who suffer from an age-old problem.

The difference is that these two men both have enough money and power to drag us all along on their personal macho crusades trying to fill the hole their respective fathers left in their souls.

Showing your sons real love can fix a lot of problems before they even start. Not that transactional "love" that only happens when they do something "manly". But real love and acceptance.

Men are terrified to not to be "manly" all the time because each and every one of us remembers the pain of what happened to us when we "slipped up" and weren't. Or we witnessed first-hand what happened to other boys who weren't.

When you strip it all down, so much of this shit comes from a very simple, very human place. Neither one of these men is a god. They're boys who will spend the rest of their lives trying to prove to their fathers that they are "strong.

And the problem with that is that too many people believe strength and cruelty are the same thing.
