Ever wondered what a palmesel was?

It’s a statue of Christ riding the donkey, placed on wheels so that it can be pulled in procession. The Reformation swept away this custom in most places but it still survives here and there, and you can see well-preserved palmesels in museums. Good photos and commentary in this post.
