One can expect the usual surrender to the spirit of the age from those who are unfree and craven and unwilling to suffer for truth. There is the universal fear of death that refuses the heroic and draws back from the liminal spaces where the mystery of the Cross whispers that no man can see God and live. Genuine gnosis is openness to revelation. Christ is the foundation of human understanding. Introspection, wonder, memory that recalls invisible worlds, the unplumbed depths that childhood yet knows in flesh and bone and spirit, all that is muted by the dumb information machine that parasitically draws upon the artifacts of historical learning. AI is worse than a mess of pottage, which offered immediate satisfaction of the desires of the natural man in place of spiritual aspiration. AI is the ersatz of that, the confines of an imprisoned consciousness now fed on virtual simulacra that is an ontological ghost, an imbecile yammering in the electronic night.
