i feel like one of the online moments that has stuck in my head in a retrospectively formative way was reading a tweet from an editor (whose name i can’t remember) about how he monitored whether or not writers who had written for his publication (which no longer exists) removed its handle in their twitter bios to make space for more “prestigious” bylines. i learned something that day. couldn’t tell you what exactly but i learned it.
