I like tarot a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Though not for telling the future in a passive sense. (I watched a woman read cards for years, and every month she swore that her true love was going to walk down the stairs any day now. As far as I know, she’s still single.)
The best use I’ve found for tarot is an agentic one!
In a purely stripped down psychological sense, the cards themselves are 78 different lenses to look at your life, and each can provide you a different perspective on the same happening. They can unlock paths forward you were blind to, or bring on realizations in terms of your framing.
In a way they can help you chart a path through difficult circumstances, set you up for success, or just get you unstuck. They can even help you predict your immediate future. Of course, by pre-dicting, I simply mean pre-saying what exactly it is that you’re going to do. If you use them as tools to help you work in the world, they become a wildly powerful way to get stuff done.
Tarot can be a great way to predict the future in the above sense. The only caveat is, you then have to go out and make that future happen.
