Fontana delle Tette (Fountain of Tits) was commissioned in 1559 by Alvise Da Ponte, the Podestà of Treviso under the Venetian Republic, following a severe drought in the region. From then until the fall of the Venetian Republic in 1797, in honor of every new Podestà, the fountain flowed for three days with red wine from one breast and white wine from the other and the citizenry was free to partake.
