Donald Trump may not present the World Cup trophy at the July 19 final. Not because of security. Not because of scheduling. Because his own staff are reportedly terrified of what fans will chant at him in person — chants linking the president directly to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. Britain's Daily Mirror, one of the UK's most-read news brands, is reporting that White House aides are in "crisis mode" trying to steer Trump away from any match involving English-speaking teams. Supporters from England, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand have already written songs that are spreading from bars into stadiums. The Mirror notes that broadcasters have been alerted. Meanwhile, Trump is on record calling Epstein "a terrific guy" and "a lot of fun to be with" — his own words, from 2002. Americans booed him at Knicks games. Sixty thousand international fans in a World Cup stadium are a different animal entirely. His team apparently knows it.
