The Music of the Young Christian Man
At 5 years old, the young Christian man
Listened with awe to Steven Curtis Chapman
At 10 he grew restless, so “Mother!” he said,
“Buy me some Skillet, Kutlass, and Red”
By 15 his friends for Red gave him grief
So he took up a Chief by the name of Keef
His mom was shocked, she did not Love Sosa
So to her close friends, she kept it sub rosa.
Once he hit college, he yearned to be cool
“Bone Ee-Vair, huh? I’m more King Krule”
Then a girl came along, a “ring in the spring”
And in their new home, a new song to sing.
No cringe, no cuss, no pair of chrome domes
Something sweet, something real,
oh thank God for Luke Combs

NB: sub rosa is Latin that literally means “under the rose” but in common usage means “done in secret”
“Chrome domes” appears to be the author’s attempt to combine two references, “Let’s go Chrome Dome” from The Last Jedi and Daft Punk’s famous gold and silver helmets they wear when performing.
