For years, the conversation has been, “Are you getting enough protein?”
But the data suggest a more awkward truth: many under-65s are already getting more than is helpful, especially when it’s mostly from meat, cheese and ultra-processed “protein” snacks. At the same time, plenty of older adults are getting less than they need to keep their muscles and balance.
So it isn’t “more for everyone”. It’s “the right range for your age and how you eat”.
