I think a lot of us have quietly absorbed the idea that if we walk regularly and eat fairly well, muscle will more or less take care of itself.

It won’t.

Muscle is metabolically expensive tissue. If you don’t use it, your body will break it down.

That’s the part of healthy ageing I think we under-appreciate.
