I put together a handy guide to Canadian clothing brands.
Some things I learned:
Arc’teryx is owned by a Finnish company which is in turn owned by a Chinese company.
Roots was acquired by a U.S. private equity firm ten years ago but it has since gone public and is listed on the TSX. It’s still owned, operated, and incorporated in Canada.
Drake’s OVO brand (lol) makes some products in Canada, which is somewhat surprising.
Lululemon is founded and HQ’d in Vancouver but is incorporated in Delaware so is legally structured out of the U.S.
Sorel boots was bought by Columbia sportswear 25 years ago after it went bankrupt.
