Exactly. My chapter title in #BecomingThePastorsWife is a tribute to Macy, and my chapter is rooted in his scholarship. BTW, Macy’s book was published by Oxford UP and received glowing peer review in the flagship medieval history journal. So to the gospel coalition crowd (my name for theobros) who tried to diminish how I explained the history of ordination in Becoming, my response is you are wrong.
Just received this in the mail today. I came across Gary Macy’s work on the Eucharist while translating book 4, chapter 17 of Calvin‘s Institutes of the Christian Religion. While looking up the author, I came across this book, and I remembered that Beth Allison Barr referred to it in her research.
